A soul moved by the transforming power of nature
I’m Karen Ferrari, a landscape designer. Brazilian by birth, Menorcan by choice. The little girl in the photo.
My connection with plants began in childhood—climbing trees and playing in gardens. Over time, that love grew as I explored the Atlantic Forest and other biomes in Brazil.
Years later, I left my career in advertising to fully dedicate myself to garden design— a choice that brought together my passion, my purpose, and my way of living.
Today, I create gardens that invite people to live outdoors, breathe deeply, and enjoy life—always through a personalized approach, in dialogue with the landscape, the architecture, and each client’s way of living.

Observe before intervening
Designing gardens is my way of interpreting the surroundings — the land, the architecture, the movement of the sun. I listen and observe. That’s what guides me.
In Menorca, the garden is part of a home’s life project. My gardens respond to the life that already exists in each place. I want them to be used and lived in — spaces for cooking, reading, napping, hosting friends. And I want them to work with the climate and endure over time.
I keep a strong connection with Brazil, where I still carry out some projects. This opportunity makes my work unique, as it brings together tropical and Mediterranean references, drawing inspiration from both visual worlds and from great masters: Roberto Burle Marx, for his environmental and artistic vision; Alex Hanazaki, for his aesthetic precision; and Ernst Gotsch, for his regenerative ethics.
I also volunteer with the gardening team on Isla del Rey. I feel fortunate to closely observe the work of another master, Piet Oudolf, a leading figure of the New Perennial Movement— a school I deeply admire and from which I draw valuable insights for my practice.
Garden design is about envisioning and supporting a process
I live in Menorca year-round, observing the island’s rhythms and knowing which adapted plant species thrive in each microclimate. This deep connection allows me to offer sustainable, site-specific garden design solutions and closely accompany every phase of the project — from the initial landscape study to final garden implementation.
I don’t design for myself; I design for the people who will live in the space. I approach each Mediterranean garden with care, knowledge, and heartfelt intention.

A successful garden begins with a clear conversation. Let’s get started.
